Tourist's purse stolen as she unloads luggage at Niagara Falls hotel

A visitor from Ohio had her purse stolen minutes after arriving at her downtown hotel Friday night, Niagara Falls Police said.

The victim was unloading luggage from her vehicle at the Wyndham Garden Hotel, 443 Main St., around 11 p.m., and set her purse down atop a flower planter. When she turned back to retrieve it, she discovered it missing.

Another hotel patron later reported finding the purse abandoned in a hotel restroom. The only thing missing from the purse was $35 in cash, police said, but the victim also feared that someone may have stolen her credit card numbers to use later.

Police are reviewing security video from the property for possible clues to the identification of the thief.
