One rescued from Sunday morning fire on Genesee Street

A person was rescued from a building fire Sunday morning on Genesee Street, according to the Buffalo Fire Department.

The fire was reported at around 8:37 a.m. at 1249 Genesee St., two blocks east of Martin Luther King Jr. Park. Officials are still investigating the cause of the blaze.

The Buffalo Fire Department has listed damage to the building at about $30,000. Damage to the contents was estimated at $10,000.

Officials could not provide details about the condition of the person who was rescued.
