Lancaster man dies in Florida diving accident

A Lancaster man died Saturday after he lost consciousness while diving in Pompano Beach, Fla., the Broward County Sheriff's Office reported.

Authorities said Paul Elmore, 67, had been exploring an artificial reef with South Florida Diving Headquarters, east of the Hillsboro Inlet in Pompano Beach.

Shortly after Elmore was located by fellow divers, the sheriff's Marine Unit responded and brought him to shore while performing first aid.

Elmore was then transported to Broward Health North, where he was later pronounced dead. The incident is still under investigation by the Broward County Sheriff's Office and the cause of death will be determined by the Broward County Office of Medical Examiner and Trauma Services.
