KOSTENBAUDER - Patricia (Geary)
71, of Grand Island, passed away July 12, 2018, one day after her 48th wedding anniversary, to be rejoined with her late husband Jack Kostenbauder. She was born in Buffalo, then moved to Grand Island in 1949. She attended Kaegebein Elementary School starting as a kindergartner the first year it was opened, Sidway Jr. High and graduated in 1965 from Kenmore East (because Grand Island High school was not finished). As a teenager she started lifeguarding along with helping to teach swimming for the Grand Island Recreation Department. She took the Red Cross Instructors course in 1968. She continued teaching swimming and lifeguarding throughout the years at Grand Island Recreation, Grand Island Community Education, GI Holiday Inn, Maryvale Community Education as well as at smaller pools. Additionally she instructed in water aerobics starting in 1982 at various locations. She also taught CPR, AED and First Aid. She received her accounting degree from Bryant and Stratton in 1988 with a 4.0 GPA. She worked in the accounting field for Seneca Niagara Casino, People Inc. and Delaware North Co. Some additional activities include: Masters Swimming, Down river swim race (Niagara River), scuba diving/snorkeling, camping, and raising 3 boys. Family and friends will miss her laugh and kind heart. She is survived by her sister, Sue Stone and husband Ken; brother, Larry Geary and wife Peggy; sons, Edward Passno and wife Donna, Donald Kostenbauder and Adam Kostenbauder; grandkids, Victoria, Raeann, Hailee, Michael, Alex, and Daniel; great-grandson, Barryn; niece, Laura Lubelczyk and husband Chuck; nephew, Jason Stone and wife Tammy; and grandnephew, Treyton. Pat was predeceased by her husband, Jack Kostenbauder; her parents, Bernard and Ruth (Crane) Geary; and grandson, Anthony.
