HAMBRUCH, Sr. - Jim "Jr."
August 10th 1961-May 5th 2018
Originally from Buffalo NY, Jim was the Technical Lead for Vehicle Engineering at American Honda - Torrance CA. He was the Honda specialist for Supplemental Restraint and Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems and most recently the expert on the airbag recall project.
Along with his love of everything automotive, Jim was a competitive mountain bike enthusiast who loved introducing others to the sport. He acted as a teacher and medic for all who would agree to partake. His Fullerton Loop rides became famous among his followers.
His career at Honda began in 1991 and was halted only once to look after his mother, Beverly who passed in 1997 after battling MS and briefly to care for his father, Jim who passed in 2012 with cancer. Jim maintained a home in Buffalo, his "retreat" for holidays with friends and family.
"I Am Third" inspired by Gales Sayers "The Lord first, my friends second and I am third" adorns Jim's custom urn that replicates the famous Borg Warner Trophy and captures the spirit of how he lived.
Jim's last selfless act was to donate his organs through Legacy One.
A celebration of Jim's life was held at the private Honda Museum in Torrance, CA on July 14, 2018. Jim's eternal resting place is with his Family at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Kenmore, NY.
