Dog-on-dog attack leads to fight between two women in Niagara Falls

A fight between two dogs provoked a fight between two women Saturday night, Niagara Falls Police said.

Officers reported that a 17th Street woman was walking her dog on a leash near her home about 8:30 p.m., when a brown and white dog attacked her pet, biting it repeatedly about the head. As the woman and some bystanders tried to separate the dogs, a red-haired woman charged up and began punching the dog owner on her back and arms.

Police said the assailant came from the same house where the dog is believed to reside. Neighbors told police that the dog has been a problem for some time, often being loose and aggressive.

The victim refused treatment, but her dog was taken to Grand Island Small Animal Hospital.
