A 1999 Oldsmobile Bravada found abandoned last week in the Town of Cambria is believed to have been stolen from the Buffalo area, Niagara County sheriff's deputies said.
Officers came upon the black SUV parked on the north shoulder of Saunders Settlement Road near Old Shawnee Road just after midnight Wednesday.
Although the license plates had been removed, deputies were able to secure a possible owner identification through registration records and other papers found inside the vehicle. They said the ignition of the vehicle had been damaged, indicating that it likely had been stolen.
Deputies were trying to contact the owner, believed to be a Buffalo man.
