North Tonawanda woman, 72, charged with DWI

A 72-year-old North Tonawanda woman who said she was driving home from Canal Fest was arrested early Saturday morning on a charge of driving while intoxicated, police reported.

Mary C. Redman was pulled over by City of Tonawanda police on Delaware Street before 1 a.m. Saturday because she didn’t have her headlights on, police said.

After the traffic stop, Redman’s vehicle continued to slowly roll forward as she looked for her license, according to police.

She told officers she had been drinking at Canal Fest, police said, and officers told Redman she was driving the wrong way to North Tonawanda.

Redman agreed to a take a breath test, and had a .17 BAC, police reported.
