Buffalo Police officer needed stitches after responding to apartment fire

A Buffalo Police officer needed two stitches after forcing entry into a Delaware Avenue apartment where a man started a possibly dangerous fire on Friday morning, according to a police report.

Vincent Redmond, 39, was arrested on a charge of reckless endangerment after police said he put 24 tenants in an apartment complex at “grave risk” of serious injury or death, according to the report.

Police said that at about 2 a.m. Friday Redmond started a fire in the complex, where he lives. After firefighters responded, Redmond started another fire, police said.

Responding to that fire, police officers were unable to enter the apartment because Redmond refused to let them in, the report said.

He was eventually arrested. No tenant injuries were noted in the police report.
