Police: Neighbor bites off man's lip in fight

A Buffalo man has been charged with biting off the lower lip of his 62-year-old upstairs neighbor during a fight, according to a city police report.

David J. Beaner, 20, was arrested Wednesday night at his residence on Northampton Street, just west of Martin Luther King Jr. Park.

"The defendant did bite the lower lip of [the victim] causing substantial pain, bleeding and removal of his lower lip," according to court documents.

Beaner, who was charged with felony assault, was struck in the head with a hammer by the victim, according to the report, as the victim was trying to get Beaner away from him.

The report did not indicate the nature of the dispute. Both men were taken to Erie County Medical Center.
