Woman admits drug and alcohol use before crash that injured Lockport town clerk

A Town of Lockport woman pleaded guilty to two charges Thursday in connection with a head-on crash that seriously injured Town of Lockport Clerk Judith A. Newbold.

Andrea R. Lang, 34, of Heritage Court, admitted to second-degree vehicular assault and driving while impaired.

She admitted to State Supreme Court Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr. that she was under the influence of alcohol and the anti-anxiety drug clonazepam when her car crossed two lanes of traffic on Robinson Road just west of South Transit Road shortly before 6 p.m. March 2 and smashed into Newbold's car.

Newbold said her left leg was broken in two places.

Kloch could send Lang to prison for as long as four years when she returns to court Sept. 18.
