Tough to swallow: Jaw injury prevents Beth Hart from performing at Canalside

For local music fans who were champing at the bit to hear the soulful voice of modern R&B-blues singer Beth Hart live, it's a day of disappointment.

The chief opener for Kenny Wayne Shepherd has been ruled out of the July 19 Canalside Live! performance due a jaw injury, representatives from the venue announced in an email. Shepherd will take the stage at 8 p.m. instead of his originally scheduled 8:45 slot.

Due to the last-minute cancellation, Canalside is offering flex tickets in return for unused general admission and VIP passes purchased in advance for tonight's show.

Hart's most recent studio release, "Black Coffee" featuring blues guitarist Joe Bonamassa, was released in January. Her last stop in Western New York came last February, when Hart performed this set at the University at Buffalo Center for the Arts.

The Los Angeles native has recorded studio albums for 25 years.
