Prison teacher from Buffalo accused of smuggling cellphone for inmate

A Buffalo woman working as a teacher in a medium-security state prison in Wyoming County has been accused of smuggling a cellphone into the facility for an inmate, state police said Thursday.

Elaina S. Freeman, 30, was charged with first-degree promoting prison contraband and official misconduct at Wyoming Correctional Facility last year, police said.

Freeman, who was arrested Thursday, was arraigned in Wyoming County Court after an investigation conducted by the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision's Office of Special Investigation. She's due back in court next month.
