A Buffalo mother visiting an inmate in the Erie County Correctional Facility was arrested Wednesday night after sheriff's deputies said she left two children, including her 12-day-old daughter, in her vehicle.
Felicia Maltbie, 29, was charged with two counts of child endangerment after deputies found an 11-year-old boy and the infant in the unattended running vehicle outside the correctional facility in Alden shortly before 7 p.m., the Sheriff's Office said.
Authorities terminated Maltbie's visit with the inmate after the children were found. Maltbie also was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle and was issued a vehicle and traffic citation, deputies said.
Child Protective Services was contacted and the children were turned over to the custody of friends. Maltbie was held in the Erie County Holding Center on $250 bail.
