Buffalo police hosting youth soccer clinics

The Buffalo Police Department is inviting children to participate in youth soccer clinics that will be held three times a week at locations on the East Side.

The clinics, sponsored by Mayor Byron W. Brown and Police Commissioner Byron C. Lockwood, are scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. on Mondays at the corner of Clark and Kent streets, Wednesdays at the corner of Goodyear and Genesee streets and Fridays in Roosevelt Park.

The soccer events are part of the commissioner's Neighborhood Engagement Team initiative that aims to incorporate more community-oriented strategies to policing neighborhoods.
