Shannon Street, a 29-year veteran of the Buffalo Fire Department, has been named a deputy commissioner.
Mayor Byron W. Brown announced Street's appointment on Monday. Street, 52, will be the second deputy fire commissioner working with recently appointed Commissioner William Renaldo. Ramon Suarez Sr. earlier was also named a deputy fire commissioner.
Street joined the department in 1989 and has served as a line service lieutenant for 17 years. Prior to this role, Street directed the operation of an emergency service delivery system and performed administrative and technical duties, including preparing payroll and coordinating training efforts.
