A fire Monday caused an estimated $1.5 million in damage to a New York State Electric & Gas operations building in Wyoming County, according to the Wyoming County Office of Emergency Services.
The blaze at 348 S. Main St. in Perry was reported at 4:09 p.m. Firefighters were able to stop the blaze before it spread to the office area of the building, but major damage was caused on the eastern end of the site where equipment was located, authorities said.
A utility truck, and off-road utility unit and a fork truck were destroyed, while two service trucks, tools and general stock were damaged.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
