I try to avoid using the Scajaquada Expressway, otherwise known as the 198. I am capable of driving at 30 mph along the entire stretch but many others are not. Consequently, they take out their aggression on those who try to obey the law.
The 2015 accident that resulted in the death of a toddler and injuries to his mother and sister was the catalyst for reducing the speed limit from 50 mph.
That said, the residual resentment from those who refuse to abide by the posted speed might result in further injuries and maybe even deaths. Law enforcement patrols are missing a revenue opportunity as many drivers blatantly ignore the copious signage indicating the not-so-new speed.
