Tonawanda man charged with DWI after singing at McDonald's drive-thru

A Town of Tonawanda man singing loudly at a McDonald's drive-thru early Sunday morning was charged with driving while intoxicated, according to City of Tonawanda police.

Police were called to the fast-food restaurant on Young Street near the Twin Cities Memorial Highway and found Andrew J. Caldarelli, 32, in a vehicle slurring his words, police said.

Caldarelli, who told officers he had been drinking vodka at a wedding, failed field sobriety tests and registered a blood-alcohol content of 0.17 percent at the scene.

After his arrest at 1:30 a.m., Caldarelli refused a breath test at the police station. He was charged with DWI and held on $250 bail, police said.
