Police seek help identifying body found in Lake Erie

Authorities are looking to identify the body of a man found June 20 in Lake Erie.

The body is that of a white male, estimated to be about 45 to 50 years old. He was 5-foot-7 and about 130 pounds, the Erie County Sheriff's Office said.

The man was bald and had dark facial hair on his chin. He was wearing Wrangler blue jeans, a dark-colored pull-over underneath a dark-colored jacket, as well as white socks, but no shoes.

The body was found by jet skiers in the lake about 1½ miles off Woodlawn Beach and recovered by the Sheriff's Office's Marine Unit.

The Erie County Medical Examiner's Office collected dental impressions, fingerprints and a blood sample, but was unable to identify the person. The Sheriff's Office said it contacted Canadian authorities and also searched databases, but also could not identify the man.

Detectives ask anyone who may have information about the man's identity to call 716-858-2903 and reference case 18-048945.
