Man charged with grand larceny after using relative's ATM card

City of Tonawanda Police Monday charged a Buffalo man with fourth-degree grand larceny for fraudulently using an ATM card.

Robert C. Sweeney, 55, of Prospect Avenue, was arrested at about 2:30 p.m., according to City of Tonawanda Police. Police said the ATM card allegedly belonged to a relative of Sweeney’s.

City of Tonawanda Police said the relative gave the card to Sweeney for safekeeping while the relative was serving a jail sentence. Police said Sweeney fraudulently used the card on seven occasions, allegedly withdrawing more than $1,600 from the relative's account.

Sweeney was held in police custody pending an arraignment in court.
