Letter: Israel’s refusal to pay Palestinians is correct

The July 4 New York Times brief reprinted in the Buffalo News whitewashed paying Palestinian prisoners who murdered Jews.

(Editor’s note: the brief indicated “Israel will begin withholding funds from the Palestinian Authority to penalize it for paying stipends to Palestinian prisoners in Israel, their families and the families of Palestinians killed or wounded in confrontations with Israelis.”)

It is hard to understand why Israel should give any money to Palestinians for social welfare when the official policy of Palestinian leadership is using the money to pay for slaying Israelis. It puts Israel in a position of funding terrorists to kill its own citizens. Palestinian leadership should use international aid to build schools, playgrounds and hospitals, not payments for murder.
