Janiga returns to Buffalo for the Beauts

The Buffalo Beauts secured another local talent on Monday when they announced they signed forward Emily Janiga.

The East Aurora native led the National Women's Hockey League in the 2017 playoffs with three goals and tied for the Beauts' team lead with four points as Buffalo claimed the 2017 Isobel Cup.

The Nichols graduate played for the Vanke Rays last season, one of two teams in China in the Canadian Women's Hockey League.

"I’d like to thank the Beauts for bringing me home and giving me another chance to play in front of our great fans at HarborCenter,” Janiga said. “I’m excited to be a part of such a great organization and I can’t wait for the season to begin."

Janiga was named College Hockey America's Player of the Year in 2014-15, her junior season at Mercyhurst. That season she led the conference in goals (27) and points (45). She ranks in the top 10 at Mercyhurst in a number of categories including seventh in career goals (72) and eighth in points (150).
