Two town justice seats are the only offices on the Sept. 13 primary election ballot in Niagara County.
In Wheatfield, Democrat Charles J. Naughton and Republican Angela Stamm-Philipps are contesting multiple party lines as they seek to succeed Justice David M. Heim.
In Somerset, Republican Pamela S. Rider filed the only GOP and Democratic petitions to succeed Justice Donald P. Martineck. Benjamin L. Seward will oppose Rider on minor-party lines only.
Unopposed for new terms are County Treasurer Kyle R. Andrews and Niagara Falls City Judge Diane L. Vitello, both Democrats; District 1 Coroner Gary D. Strassburg and Pendleton Town Justice Edmund P. Maziarz Jr., both Republicans; and Thomas C. Beatty of the Independence Party, recently appointed a Wilson town councilman.
Nominating petitions were filed last week.
