Scouts marveled over Josh Allen's arm strength all throughout the pre-draft process. The creators of the Madden video game agreed.
Allen, the Bills' rookie quarterback, was given a 99 throw power rating in Madden 19 – the highest score of anyone in the entire game. Detroit quarterback Matt Stafford was second with a 98 throw power while Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers, Carolina's Cam Newton, Baltimore's Joe Flacco and Kansas City's Patrick Mahomes all graded out at 97.
Allen received a 72 overall rating, which ties for 38th among all quarterbacks in the game, although he's tops on the Bills; A.J. McCarron is a 71 and Nathan Peterman is a 68 (and if you're curious, Tyrod Taylor is an 81).
Allen's other ratings include 79 short throw accuracy, 77 mid throw accuracy, 74 deep throw accuracy and 62 awareness. But he's got the arm. He told me after the draft that his longest throw on record was 82 yards.
The highest-rated Bills players are SS Micah Hyde (92), RB LeSean McCoy (90), FS Jordan Poyer (88), CB Tre'Davious White (88), WR Kelvin Benjamin and TE Charles Clay (85).
Meet fullback Zach Olstad: Jay Skurski introduces you to Bills fullback Zach Olstad, who comes from a small town in Minnesota. From the sounds of it, his summer job could've landed him on the show "Dirty Jobs." The Bills will expect him to do another one as a lead blocker.
Thurman Thomas upset with Terrell Owens' decision to skip Hall of Fame ceremony: T.O. wants to do his own thing. That's not sitting well with 2007 Hall of Fame inductee Thurman Thomas. "Every guy thinks they should have been a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer," Thomas said. "I remember (former NFL defensive end) Deacon Jones telling me after I didn't get in the first time ... He said, 'Whether you're going to get in the first time, the second time, the third time, it's when you get in that you should enjoy it.'"
