Shootings within two blocks of one another leave one dead, one wounded

One man died and another man was wounded following a pair of shootings within two blocks of each other Saturday evening on Buffalo's East Side.

Police spokesman Michael DeGeorge said that 28-year-old man died Sunday in Erie County Medical Center, where he was taken after he was shot at about 7 p.m. Saturday at Genesee Street and Crossman Avenue. His name was not immediately released.

Another 28-year-old man, who also was not identified, was struck by gunfire just before 10:30 p.m. Saturday in the first block of Countess Avenue, two blocks west of Crossman, DeGeorge reported. He was treated at ECMC for unspecified injuries and released.
