'Ranch amnesty,' rap song highlight first Blue Cheese Day

Move over, ranch dressing. Blue cheese is the wing dip king on Monday.

Drew Cerza has revealed the plans for his first National Blue Cheese Dressing Day. Cerza acted after Frank's RedHot outraged Buffalonians in March with a tweet claiming ranch was the best wing dipping sauce and after he discovered blue cheese didn't have a day.

Blue cheese fans get their day – on 7/16, of course

Highlights include lighting the Electric Tower blue, but most action takes place around Monday's Bisons game: inducting the Bisons' "Blue Cheese" character into the Buffalo Wing Hall of Flame; "bobbing for wings" on the field; and watching Blue Cheese race "Carrot" and "Chicken Wing" between innings.

Further, through Ranch Dressing Amnesty Day, bring an unopened bottle of ranch, or other nonperishable food, to Coca-Cola Field to get a free game ticket with the purchase of one ticket. Visit for details.

Frank's also had pledged to celebrate blue cheese day on July 16, but so far has not publicized any special activities. Cerza said the company probably will just promote the day on social media.

Update: If you were wondering if Blue Cheese Day could get any better, the answer is yes. Cerza pointed us to a rap song, written and performed by Major League Eating competitor Eric "Badlands" Booker, about blue cheese, wings and the official day. We link to it here without comment.
