Alert neighbor helps Niagara Falls police nab suspected burglar

A Woodlawn Avenue resident, on heightened alert due to a spate of recent break-ins, alerted Niagara Falls Police to a potential burglary-in-progress Saturday evening at a neighbor's home. Police were able to capture the suspect as he fled down an adjoining alleyway, stolen goods in hand.

The witness phoned police to report a shirtless man lurking around a neighbor's garage just before 7 p.m. Police found the suspect walking down an alley, carrying a chainsaw and a speaker box for a car. The owner of the property was contacted and identified his property.

William C. Giambelluca, 37, of Buffalo, was arrested and charged with third-degree burglary, petit larceny and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.
