Driver: Carl Ettipio.
Division: Top 8/Lancaster.
Lowdown: Ettipio is a veteran drag racing car owner, driver and businessman. Ettipio often shares the driving of his dragster with Brian Hitchcock when Hitchcock's schedule allows. After a friend took Ettipio to a drag race when he was 18, Ettipio launched his own drag racing career as a driver at 19 in his father's street car at Lancaster. After a brief stay in the street division, Ettipio built an F/Stock Eliminator car in the mid-1970s. After taking a hiatus from racing to raise a family, Ettipio returned to competition in 1988, racing a Daytona-bodied car in Super Pro. Ettipio routinely finished top four in Lancaster points. Ettipio transitioned his career from full-body car models to dragsters when he obtained his first dragster in 1993. He has campaigned that same G-Force constructed dragster ever since. Ettipio is most grateful for the support of his wife Joanie Ettipio.
Ettipio is the owner of Competition Transmission, a North Tonawanda business he started in 1983. Although Ettipio has competed at many different drag strips over the years he says his career is defined by mostly enjoying racing on Fridays at Lancaster so that he could devote the rest of weekends to other family activities.
Accomplishments: Ettipio has authored many wins in his career and in 1994 he finished second in Lancaster Super Pro points. Ettipio and Hitchcock, as teammates, were involved in a three-way tie for the Lancaster Quick 16 title in 2015 also involving Dave Lawler and Pete Maduri Jr. Maduri claimed the title on a tiebreaker. Ettipio is a past Lancaster Sportsman of The Year Award winner.
