Three local firms win $100,000 each from Ignite Buffalo contest

Three small businesses won $100,000 each at the first-ever Ignite Buffalo competition.

Seven finalists were invited to make pitches to judges at the Wednesday event, about how the grants would impact their operations. The event was held in conjunction with Facebook Community Boost.

The winners of $100,000 grants were Oxford Pennant, Gro-operative and Get Fokus'd Productions. Get Fokus'd was the "People's Choice" winner, selected through an audience vote.

Four companies won grants of $50,000 each: Barrel+Brine, Buffalo All Star Extreme, Groundwork Market Garden and Top Seedz.

Twenty other companies that were declared finalists received $25,000 each.

Facebook supplied the $1 million in prize money. Ignite Buffalo is a partnership that includes Facebook, 43North and M&T Bank.
