A Buffalo native will have a homecoming this weekend when the music of Boston and Styx, two of the biggest arena rock bands of the 1970s and 1980s, will be combined into one tidy package at the Seneca Niagara Casino in Niagara Falls.
Los Angeles-based tribute act BOSTYX, with Buffalo native Glenn Jost on vocals and drums, will be performing two sets at 7 and 10:30 p.m. July 13 in the Bear's Den Showroom. Jost's former band, Siamese Eyes, was named top local rock group by the Buffalo Music Awards back in 1985. In true Buffalo fashion, the ceremony was delayed due to a snowstorm.
Also touring as a member of BOSTYX is vocalist, guitarist and founder David Victor. The San Francisco musician joined a Boston tribute band SMOKIN' in 1999 after moving to Los Angeles. Almost 10 years later, Victor was asked to join the real Boston by founder Tom Scholz and would be a touring member during the band's 2012 and 2014 tours. He would also appear with the band at the "Boston Strong" benefit show following the Boston Marathon bombings.
Fans of both Boston and Styx can expect a set list that includes such hits as "Come Sail Away," "More Than a Feeling," "Lady," "Don't Look Back" and many more. Tickets start at $55.
