[BN] Blitz newsletter: What we know about the LeSean McCoy situation

Lawyers representing the ex-girlfriend of Bills running back LeSean McCoy said Tuesday that their client was assaulted while inside a Georgia home owned by McCoy.

The story was first revealed when a friend of Delicia Cordon, McCoy's ex-girlfriend, posted a gruesome hospital photo on Instagram with a caption that blamed McCoy for the assault. The friend also accused McCoy of child abuse, animal abuse and steroid use (the post detailing the allegations was since deleted but can be seen here). McCoy released a statement on social media calling the accusations "totally baseless and offensive."

With the information available at the time, it is not believed that McCoy personally caused Cordon's injuries. The statement from her lawyer says a man entered the home with no signs of forced entry and demanded Cordon return specific items that McCoy had previously gifted her, and that her injuries were sustained when the man struck her in the head with a gun.

However, the detailed statement also gave several examples of times McCoy sent others to act on his behalf in regard to Cordon's disputed living arrangements, with the implication being that McCoy could have orchestrated this as well. "If that’s true," Pro Football Talk wrote, "McCoy likely has played his last down of NFL football."
