EPIC Storytime Series runs through August at Canalside

Every Person Influences Children (EPIC) has launched its Storytime Series at Canalside for the summer.

The M&T Bank-sponsored program will offer weekly programming to children up to age 8 and their families from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Wednesday through Aug. 29.

The series aims to create a positive and fun environment while promoting reading and a healthy lifestyle. Storytime events incorporate educational themes. They include a book reading and related family activities. The following is the weekly list of themes:

Wednesday: “Superheroes Help Others,” with Mayor Byron W. Brown as guest reader. Children are invited to come dressed as their favorite superhero.

July 18: “Awesome Animals,” with a visit from the Buffalo Zoomobile.

July 25: “Making Music (and instruments),” with Scott Celani.

Aug. 1: “Fantastic Foods for You,” with Buster Bison.

Aug. 8: “Fit n’ Fun” and “Learn How to Exercise Like the Animals.” The BlueCross BlueShield of WNY Healthy Zone Cruiser will be on hand for some fitness fun.

Aug. 15: “Weather Wonder,” with WKBW-TV meteorologist Andy Parker.

Aug. 22: “Let’s Build Something with Our Friends,” with help from staff at Home Depot in Amherst.

Aug. 29: “End of Summer Party – Be Nice to Others.” Children can come dressed up in your favorite storybook character.
