You're going to pay more for lemons. Here's why.

You might want to consider swapping out the lemon in your ice water for cucumber, and Beyoncé may want to consider switching to an entirely different beverage altogether.

The price of lemons is going up, and it isn't expected to drop again for months, according to the Produce Alliance, a group that procures fresh fruits and vegetables for the food service industry.

The Produce Alliance sent an "extreme market alert" to its customers last week, warning that weather issues had affected the lemon supply and was causing shortages.

"Due to an extremely hot spring, the majority of the fruit crop matured much earlier and we are now experiencing shortages across all lemon varieties," the alert read.

The supply problems are expected to continue through October, and are affecting the price and quality of the lemons available.
