Heavy delays on westbound I-90 after vehicle fire near Lackawanna tolls

A passenger vehicle caught fire Monday afternoon on the westbound Interstate-90 just before the Lackawanna toll barrier, according to the State Police.

The westbound lanes were closed for more than an hour.  The fire started at about 2:15 p.m. There was one occupant in the vehicle who was able to escape, state police said.

Drivers on the westbound I-90 were dealing with heavy backups as the right lane remained blocked when the highway reopened shortly before 3:30 p.m.
