With Bone Thugs N Harmony and Method Man in the recent past and Salt N Pepa, Naughty By Nature, Vanilla Ice and Ludacris slated for this summer, there's one more name to add to the list of throwback hip-hop acts bound for Buffalo.
Enter Fat Joe, who will perform at 10 p.m. July 28 in VENU (75 W. Chippewa St.). Tickets are now available for $29.99 general admission, $49 to access the VIP entrance and enjoy the show, and $99 for VIP entrance access and a bottle of champagne; more details here.
The founder of hip-hop label Terror Squad, Fat Joe released his first studio album in 1993 but didn't reach his peak for another decade, as the "What's Luv?" single collaboration with Ashanti and memorable "Lean Back" earned him Grammy nominations, as did his 2008 work with Lil Wayne, "Make It Rain."
Fat Joe, born Joseph Cartagena in a tough neighborhood in the Bronx, also held acting roles during his prime, appearing in "Scary Movie 3," "Empire," "Thicker Than Water" and "Happy Feet." He hasn't quit, either, as Fat Joe reportedly makes a cameo in a movie due out in September, "Night School," starring Kevin Hart.
