Police say admitted crack addict stole car in order to get home

A Town of Lockport resident who allegedly stole a car from a Buffalo-area store parking lot was tracked down via the vehicle's OnStar tracking system, Niagara County sheriff's deputies said.

Anthony J. Oddi, 56, of Eisenhower Drive, was stopped at South Transit and Raymond roads last week and reportedly admitted to having taken the car. He told deputies that he was a crack user and needed a ride home from Buffalo, and got it after finding an unoccupied car running in a store parking lot.

The vehicle was returned to its rightful owner, a Cheektowaga resident, and Oddi was turned over to Cheektowaga police, who were expected to charge him in the incident.
