Adam Zyglis Cartoon Caption Contest: July 2018

On the first Sunday of each month, I will publish an absurd cartoon that requires a caption. I'm enlisting you — yes, that means all of you — to put on your thinking caps and be a part of the creative process. My goal with the contest is to step away from our current political rancor and have us simply come together over some good old-fashioned humor. I will try to give the imagery some local flair when I can, but you can bet that most of the images will dabble in the bizarre.

Now these cartoons will be much different from my editorial work. There is intentionally no clear or obvious message. Think of this challenge as a little puzzle, where there is no one correct answer. Great captions can be found by taking the cartoon in unexpected directions, so think outside the box (or word bubble).

Even though many captions can be successful, there can only be one winner. I, along with my editors, will sort through the entries and select the wittiest submission, which will be announced July 6. The winner will receive the signed original cartoon with the winning caption written in. We will also be publishing a list of finalists, along with their clever punchlines for your enjoyment.

Now get captioning, people!
