The "State of Our Black Family: Africa is Our First Family, So Put US First" conference will begin at noon Saturday in the CAO Alphonso "Rafi" Green Masten Resource Center, 1423 Fillmore Ave.
A variety of speakers – ranging from leaders of community organizations to artists and writers to city and county legislators and educators – will address issues facing black families and outline potential solutions. Samuel L. Radford III, president of the District Parent Coordinating Council of Buffalo, will moderate.
Food will be provided by UMOJA Inc., which sponsors the annual conference. Attendees also are encouraged to bring a dish to share, though no pork, red meat or alcohol is allowed at the free event. For more information, call 948-0604.
