Hart to face Quintero in Junior Masters semifinals

Ryan Hart, the son of PGA pro Dudley Hart, reached the semifinals of the Championship Flight of the 66th annual International Junior Masters Tournament at East Aurora Country Club Thursday.

Hart, of Naples, Fla., will face co-medalist Nicolas Quintero of Colombia in one semifinal beginning at 9 a.m. this morning. Both won two matches on Thursday. Hart topped Mark Turner of Gloucester, Mass. 2 up, then routed Canadian Luke DelGobbo 5 and 4.

Quintero topped Ryan Sabo of Burlington, Ontario, 4 and 3, then beat the lone local golfer in the flight, Andrew LaCongo of Holland, 2 up.

In the other semifinal bracket of the Championship Flight, another native of Colombia, David Ayala, will face Sebastian Gamboa of Mexico at 8:30 a.m. today.

Ayala beat Freddy Dangelo of Ontario 1 up and Luis Pacheco of Mexico 3 and 2.

Gamboa won his two matches over Ben MacLean of Niagara Falls, Ontario (3 and 2), then defeated Parker Lee of Oro Medonte, Ontario (1 up).

In the Gold Flight, Tonawanda’s Tyler Edholm will face Burlington, Ontario’s Justin Grant in a semifinal while Anthony Delisanti of Sanborn plays Jacob VanderZwaag of Pittsford in the other semifinal.
