Timothy J. Martin Jr., who fled a fatal accident scene on the Tuscarora Indian Reservation in 2012 and wasn't arrested until six years later, was sentenced Wednesday to one to six years in state prison by State Supreme Court Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr.
Martin, 25, of the Town of Niagara, pleaded guilty April 19 to leaving the scene of a fatality.
Loren Jacobs, 59, was struck from behind at about 11 p.m. Feb. 8, 2012, as he was walking near his home on Mount Hope Road.
Lewiston Police stuck with the case and arrested Martin on March 24. At the time, Lewiston Police Chief Frank Previte said there was no evidence of alcohol involvement and said if Martin hadn't fled, he wouldn't have been charged.
Kloch ordered Martin to pay $6,000 in funeral expenses.
