A 40-year-old woman and a teenager from Jamestown each face 10 animal cruelty charges after police found a dead dog in an apartment Saturday night.
Authorities also found "deplorable conditions" in the Prendergast Avenue residence, including no working utilities and no dog food, Jamestown police said.
Police said they are awaiting the results of a necropsy on the dog to determine the cause of death.
Police identified the woman as Christine R. Emming. The 16-year-old's name was withheld. Both were being held in the Chautauqua County Jail pending arraignment.
Nine dogs removed from the apartment were taken to a local shelter, police said.
