Niagara Falls to open pools early because of hot forecast

The City of Niagara Falls announced Tuesday that it will open three swimming pools a few days earlier than planned because of the hot weather forecast for this weekend.

Pools on 91st Street and Centre Court will open at 11 a.m. Thursday, as will the spray pad in Hyde Park. They will be open weekdays until Sept. 3. The Hyde Park pool won't open until July because of maintenance.

The city also is launching the childrens' summer recreation program Thursday in five parks: Nor-Lock Park at Lockport Street and North Avenue; Gill Creek Park at Niagara Street and Hyde Park Boulevard; South Junior at Portage Road and Ferry Avenue; Liberty Park at Forest Avenue and 19th Street; and Gluck Park at 15th Street and South Avenue.
