Letter: Quotations speak volumes about a person’s values

I was sorry to read in the June 17 Buffalo News that a principal in Andover, Mass., had to apologize to parents for a quote that was published in his high school’s yearbook. It was probably the most pertinent and enlightening quote published in any 2018 yearbook.

The quote was, “Make the lie big, keep it simple, keep saying it and eventually they will believe it.” The principal apologized because this quote was associated with Hitler.

“Separating families at the border is the fault of bad legislation passed by the democrats.” This was a tweet by President Trump.

“Obey the laws of the government because God has ordained the government for his purposes.” This was a biblical quote by Attorney General Jeff Sessions. This quote was also used to justify slavery.

“Whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers, that you do unto me.” I don’t care where that one came from. I just believe it’s true.
