Comedy on Tap: Jimmy Pardo, ComedySportz and Johnny Lee Dam

The last weekend of June is offering some quality nighttime laughter in Buffalo. Here’s what we’re eyeing up:

• Veteran comic and podcasting pioneer Jimmy Pardo takes the stage at Helium Comedy Club (30 Mississippi St.) for five shows from June 28 to 30. Pardo is the host of one of the first popular comedy podcasts, “Never Not Funny,” beginning in 2006, and it remains one of the most critically acclaimed shows in the genre. He’s also produced several stand-up specials, made regular appearances on “Conan” as a stand-up and contributor, and performed on “The Tonight Show.” Shows are at 8 p.m. June 28 and 7:30 and 10 p.m. June 29 and 30. Tickets  range from $15 to $32 with additional dinner packages available. Info: buffalo.heliumcomedy.com

• If you’re the type who likes a little spontaneity to the evening’s entertainment, ComedySportz is up your alley. The improv group takes audience suggestions to build scenes, games and music right on the spot. The group will host three shows: standard ComedySportz games at 7:30 p.m. June 29 and 30, and an after-hours show “Knockout” at 9:30 p.m. June 30. All shows take place at the Arena (4476 Main St., Amherst). Tickets range from $9-$12 for each show. Info: cszbuffalo.com

• Comedian Johnny Lee Dam will headline a show at 8 p.m. June 30 at Rob’s Comedy Playhouse (1340 North Forest Drive). A native of Los Angeles, Dam began performing in 1991, and since then, has booked and performed shows all over North America. He also has delivered laughs to United States military overseas and hosted a Los Angeles radio show. Tickets are $12 with group rates available. Info: robscomedyplayhouse.com
