Buffalo school official to take over top job in Peekskill

The Buffalo Public Schools are losing one of the superintendent's cabinet members.

David C. Mauricio, the district's chief of strategic alignment and innovation, has been appointed superintendent of the Peekskill City School District, home to roughly 3,300 students located downstate on the Hudson River.

Among Mauricio's duties in Buffalo were overseeing district athletics and getting Buffalo's community schools programs off the ground. His last day in the district is Friday.
