Grill stored near garage may have contributed to Youngstown blaze

Four occupants escaped a fire that started in an attached garage and spread to a Youngstown home early Monday morning, according to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office.

The blaze at 287 Elm St. was reported at 1:34 a.m. Damage to the home was estimated at $200,000. Some minor exposure damage was reported to a neighboring home on Elm Street.

While the cause remains under investigation, it appears a grill used earlier in the day and stored near a wall of the garage may have contributed to the fire, the Sheriff's Office said.
