Once tools of the trade, now object of theft

It used to be that thieves used tools to break into a house. Over the weekend, they broke in to steal them.

A large number of tools as well as a bicycle were reported stolen between 6 p.m. Friday and 7:30 a.m. Saturday from a Rhode Island Street home on the city's West Side, according to police.

Tools were also reported stolen sometime between midnight and 11 a.m. Saturday from a home on Monticello Place, off Kensington Avenue. Among items reported stolen were a circular saw, a grinder, a drill, a tile saw and some hand tools, police said.

There was no physical evidence of a break-in at the Rhode Island house, nor any damage to doors or windows at the Monticello house, police said.
