Thief steals $200, causes $2,000 damage in Niagara Falls

A thief caused about $2,000 worth of damage to a Main Street laundromat Saturday morning while stealing about $200 in coins, Niagara Falls police said.

Around 2:26 a.m., a man was seen on security cameras entering the Maytag Laundromat, 1606 Main St. He proceeded to attempt to pry the coin boxes off a dozen clothes dryers and succeeded in removing the boxes from a pair of the machines.

Police said it was the second such overnight incident at the business within the past week. No details were available concerning the previous incident.
