SHUELL, Thomas J.
SHUELL - Thomas J. Age 80, of Niagara Falls, retired professor at the University of Buffalo's Graduate School of Education, died peacefully after a long battle with cancer on June 21st, 2018 at Roswell Park Memorial Institute. Thomas was a U.S. Navy veteran. Tom received his PH.D. in educational psychology in 1967 from the University of California, Berkeley. He and his family moved to Buffalo, N.Y. to join the faculty of the University of Buffalo, State University of New York, as an assistant professor of educational psychology. He moved up the ranks as an associate professor and professor. He was the husband of the late Anne (Bougher) Shuell who died in 1997. He is survived by his wife Judith Ann; two daughters Kathryn (William) Anne Yarnes and Lisa (John) Marie Wojewoda; along with two stepdaughters Kathleen Marie Scalise and Raedene (Michael) Lou Zellner and stepson Anthony (Jennifer) Stephen Scalise; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Fretthold Funeral Home Inc., 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd. in North Tonawanda on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10 A.M. from St. John Lutheran Church, 6540 Main St., Williamsville. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Cheektowaga. Flowers gratefully declined; memorials may be made to the Research Dept. of Dr. Elizabeth Griffith's and Dr. Grace Dy at the Roswell Park Cancer Inst. The family would also like to thank staff of 5W.
